HISTORY was created at Ararat on Tuesday night when women drove all eight winners at the meeting.
Champion reinswoman Kerryn Gath led the charge with six victories while D'Arne Bellman and Brooke Hanson both chipped in with victories to scoop the pool.Gath's victories included the $8000 Ararat Cup aboard Blatant Lie.It is the second time that Gath, the winner of the past four Australian drivers premierships, has driven six winners at a meeting. The meeting also featured two all-female quinellas. Hanson drove Chabachon to beat the Kylie Sugars-driven Cashflow Manager into second place in race five and Gath steered Madam Narryna, which downed Awesome Alba with Kate Thompson aboard in the last.? Vandalum landed his 14th victory at the Newcastle International Paceway when he led throughout to score at the Newcastle International Paceway on Saturday night. The victory equalled the record for the most number of wins on the track set by Harms Warrior in winning on November 27.It was a very emotional victory because Vandalum's part-owner Val Meredith passed away suddenly while on holidays in New Zealand earlier in the month.? A group of Hamilton-Wickham cricketers having a night out at the Newcastle International Paceway on Saturday certainly got the good oil about Laser Mountain, which was successful in race eight (2030m). Laser Mountain is trained and driven at Greta Main by Mick Edwards and after starting from the extreme outside barrier finished strongly to defeat Saracen by a head.Edwards was a first-grade opening batsman and medium-pace bowler with the Hamilton Wickham club 25 years ago.? Trouper Rama, trained at Condell Park by Michael Kelly, maintained his unbeaten record on the Newcastle track when he was successful on Saturday night. The gelding, which was having his first start since November, scored his third win from as many starts at the track when he raced in the death seat and then outstayed Self Denial to win by two metres.Kelly will back Trouper Rama up in race two at Harold Park tonight but is undecided whether or not he will give the gelding another run before taking him to Melbourne."I have been going down to Melbourne for the Hunter Cup at Moonee Valley for the past eight or nine years," Kelly said."This year it will be held on February 12, and I intend taking Trouper Rama down to contest one of the supporting races on that night."
